About

Lifelong Resident.
Public Servant.
Proven Advocate.

Moira Smith is a dedicated, long-term homeowner in Sterling Heights, Michigan, calling the city home since 1978.

A proud graduate of Western Michigan University, she spent her professional career serving as a Social Security Disability Investigator, retiring after years of ensuring the fair and lawful treatment of vulnerable Americans.

Now, Moira continues her life of service by running for Sterling Heights City Council in the August 5, 2025 Primary Election, committed to putting residents-not bureaucracy first.

Political & Community Leadership
Moira currently serves as a Precinct Delegate for Precinct 21, a role she has proudly held for over a decade. During that time, she’s supported dozens of campaigns, organized outreach efforts, and helped grow a stronger grassroots voice in Macomb County politics.

In 2021, she ran for Sterling Heights City Council and received 7,710 votes (7.9%), narrowly missing a seat. She returned in 2022 to win her precinct delegate race with 68 votes (33.2%) in a three-way contest.

Moira’s Priorities
Moira’s campaign is built on common-sense leadership rooted in fiscal discipline, transparency, and respect for the neighborhoods that define Sterling Heights.

Her core priorities include:

Responsible Spending
City budgeting should match actual revenue not debt-based wish lists. Moira opposes bonds without clear repayment plans and costly entertainment projects that burden taxpayers.

Zoning Integrity & Neighborhood Preservation
Zoning rules should be fair and consistent. Moira opposes the trend of granting special variances to outside developers at the expense of residents’ quality of life.

Public Safety First
From roads to emergency services, basic infrastructure and safety should always come before pet projects or city-run ventures beyond government’s core role.

Transparency & Oversight
Long-term financial commitments, public contracts, and development incentives must be reviewed publicly and responsibly, Moira believes in shining light on city dealings.

Ready for Leadership That Listens
With over ten years of precinct service, firsthand experience in federal investigations, and a legacy of neighborly integrity.

Moira Smith offers real-world leadership, not politics as usual.
